Tardiness

Nothing annoys me more than agreeing to meet someone at a specific time and have them show up 45 minutes late. Now I could understand 5, 10 or even 15 minutes. But 45 minutes late, and that’s just plain disrespectful. I just can’t deal with these sorts of people. They drive me crazy!!!

Don’t ever become friends with my sisters. One was 45 minutes late to her own birthday dinner!

I tell clients if they’re more than 10 minutes late, I leave.
Now, friends, that’s different. I had friend who was chronically late. Never less than 20 minutes. Once he was an hour and 45 late. I told him that pissed me off, and one day he was gonna know how it felt. He just apologized as if “I’m sorry” fixes everything.
Not a week later his car broke down on the tollway. I told him I could be there in 10 minutes, but that I might run an hour and 45 minutes late. I kept him waiting an hour. I shrugged and said “I’m sorry” in my best imitation of him. He got pretty prompt after that.

Bleah, 45 minutes??
I agree with Serenity – you get 20 minutes and then I’m gone. If you plan on trying to meet with me again later, you better be on time and offering me cookies or something to apologize!

You bet it is! I’m with you on this one all the way. I give people 20 minutes, that is my absolute limit. If that person is not there in 20 minutes and did not have the decency to call me and let me know they would be late, I’m outta there.
I had one friend who was notoriously late. As in, hours! If the agreement was to be there at 1pm, I might not see her till about 2:30pm. Her excuse when I complained? “Well 1 and 2 are really close together on the clock, I’m not that late!” That friendship did not last.
Another friend would call me if she even thought she might be 5 minutes late. “I’m on my way, I may be a little bit late, I’m sorry.” And the latest she ever showed up was about 15 minutes late and that was with two phone calls from her telling me she was running a little behind.
Which friend do you think I kept?
You are right, it is totally disrespectful and rude and I might let it slide ONCE but if it happens again, it tells me quite a bit more than I already knew from the first incident.
Hope you had a good 4th nonetheless Miss Barzey.
