Here is a video explaining the role of the Mechanicals during the London 2012 Opening & Closing Ceremony.

Did you spot me in the image at the beginning with other Mechanicals on The Field of Play? This was taken after the Closing Ceremony and we were in extremely high spirits as we mingled with the other performers and the remaining athletes who hung around just soaking up the energy and amazing Olympic atmosphere that all came to an unfortunate end that night.
