Lieberman Jumps In

Connecticut Senator Joseph Lieberman has entered the race for the 2004 Presidential election. So is America ready for its first Jewish president? Only time will tell. As Al Gore’s running mate in 2000, they did get more votes than any Democratic ticket in the history of the United States. To be exact, a half million more. Gosh, if only Al Gore had won his home state of Tennessee. Forget Florida. Things would be so different now. Oh well! No sense dreaming about what could have been. Time to think about what could be.

Maybe Tipper Gore will stump for Lieberman, since they have a meeting of the minds. Too bad Frank Zappa isn’t around. He sparred with Tipper handily during a debate on the Charlie Rose show some years back. The highlight was when, after Tipper declared that some rock songs advicated masturbation, he asked, “What’s wrong with masturbation?”

No question, Lieberman’s politics is to the right of most Democrats if not most Americans. Thus, it’s going to be interesting to see whether or not he’ll get the nomination. Unlike Gore who many felt would be entitled to the nomination, Liberman is going to have to earn it. And when the other candidates are done profiling where he stands on the issues…. something tells me he won’t be on top. He’s just too conservative for most Democrats.

I’m disturbed by Lieberman’s suggestion during the last campaign that unless Hollywood cleans up its act government should step in and legislate content.
Most movies are crap, but I don’t want Lieberman and his ilk dictating what I can see.
I wonder if the usual gang of political geniuses (Sean Penn, Susan Sarandon, Barbra Streisand, Alec Baldwin) will sign on to his campaign.

Is there any truth to the rumor that Lieberman asked you out as well? 🙂

I’d be so excited if we elected a Jewish president. If only I didn’t like almost every other Democratic candidate’s politics better than Lieberman’s. I guess Tom Dean is a big gun nut.
