I’m A Survivor

As I sat through another round of training for most of today, I couldn’t help but sing parts of Destiny’s Child smash hit “Survivor” in my head. The song is about love gone wrong, but I can’t help but think it’s quite applicable to my current work situation.
I’m A Survivor! (What!)
I’m Not Gonna Give Up! (What!)
I’m Not Gonna Stop! (What!)
I’m Gonna Work Harder! (What!)
I’m A Survivor! (What!)
I’m Gonna Make It! (What!)
I Will Survive! (What!)
And Keep On Surviving! (What!)
I’m A Survivor! (What!) (Hey!)
I’m Not Gonna Give Up! (What!)
I’m Not Gonna Stop! (What!)
I’m Gonna Work Harder! (What!)
I’m A Survivor! (What!)
I’m Gonna Make It! (What!)
I Will Survive! (What!)
Keep On Surviving! (What!)
I’m A Survivor! (What!)
I’m Not Gonna Give Up! (What!)
I’m Not Gonna Stop! (What!)
I’m Gonna Work Harder! (What!)
I’m A Survivor! (What!)
I’m Gonna Make It! (What!)
I Will Survive! (What!)
Keep On Surviving! (What!)

It’s weird how lyrics just kind of come along at the right moment. A friend of mine recently suggested I check out music by Hank Williams III. Although not in a league with “Take This Job and Shove It,” the following Hank 3 lyrics pretty much sum up my recent experience:
Well down the Mississippi highway
into New Orleans
I said everything is going ok
I got my hillbilly ride
and my gal by my side
and we’re doing it all the way
We’re just a cruising around
from town to town
and we’re doing what we like to do
And if you don’t like
our hillbilly sound
then hey man, go fuck you
I’d pay good money to have seen the expression on some record company exec’s face when he heard that song. (“Yeah, here’s one we’ve been workin’ on, we call it ‘Go Fuck You.'”)
