I Won! I Won!

Management had a sales contest to see who on the team (of roughly 10 people) would achieve the highest number for a certain metric during the last 6 weeks, and I won! Yeah! Prize is two tickets to anywhere in the lower 48 states. Now I have to decide who to take and more importantly where to go. Any suggestions?

I’d highly recommend San Diego. San Fran is nice too, but no beaches really. Are they giving you a car rental too? If so, there’s a lot within driving distance of San Fran, depending on how much time you have. Monterrey, Sonoma, Santa Cruz, Yosemite, etc…

Couple of cities I’ve been dying to spend some time in: San Francisco, Seattle and Miami.
I’m sure you have a list in your head of places you’ve heard about but never got the chance to go. Instead of trying to pick the best one like this is a once-in-a-lifetime oppotunity, just list them in no particular order and start from the top. Use this free trip to begin your exploration of places you are curious about, but don’t let it end there. Plan the next city as soon as you return from the first, even if it’s a year out. Basically, use the freebie to start the adventure, and if you like exploring new places, keep it going.

THanks for the suggestions. I’m going to Vegas in June with my company, so that is out. I might look into going to the Carolina’s as I’ve never been there before. If that doesn’t work out, perhaps I’ll head back to Florida or California.

Well congratulations Miss Ursula! I hope you have a fantastic time where ever it is you decide to go. How about someplace warm? Florida? OR! Maybe you can use it to get to Florida, hop on board a three day cruise that begins and ends in the states and then fly back home.
OR! Use it to fly to CA and then drive down to Mexico!
Vegas would be fun…who knows, maybe you’ll get lucky.
Maybe you could just go to the FL keys and learn how to scuba dive or snorkel and take some fantastic underwater shots and display them on your blog!
Louisiana can be fun….even after Mardi Gras season. What about going there…rich in history and fantastic architecture and food!!!!
Ok…there are some ideas to get you thinking. I hope you tell us where you decide to go.
As far as who to pick….learned this the hard way…when you win something…the best way to pick the person to go is to put names in a hat and pick out one name. Even better if you can do it in front of everyone so they know it was a legit pick. People tend to get snippy when you pick someone else over them. Hopefully your friends are all cool and don’t act like that but really…friends and family names in a hat and throw a dinner, invite them all over, pick a name and then get drunk. Just kidding. Have fun!

Good choices if you’re going for places that would normally be expensive are any smaller cities that aren’t hubs. Charleston, SC, for example, is pretty, nice weather, touristy, historic, and it normally costs over $300 to fly there.
Otherwise, I’d say go to Orlando or Vegas…somewhere fun. Definitely not NY, ’cause it’s cheap to fly there from here almost anytime.

Wow! Congratulations! I know nothing about the US, so I can’t make any recommendations about where you should go. Maybe Arizona? I don’t know.

How about some place warm and beautiful. Like. Like. Like. Vail, CO.?
I would get the most expensive ticket I could, but from Chicago that wouldn’t be very much. Maybe fly down to Miami and check out the Keys.
Wherever you go, have fun.

first off….YEAAAAAAA YOU!!!!! how cool is that?
hmm i’d suggest myself, but… (what? c’mon you know i’m a travel ho.) …hmm maybe a close friend you haven’t seen in a while or someone you know needs a break.
as for where depends on what you want to do and when you go. you’re the only person i have any type of repore with that has been to more states than myself. if you give me some dates or time of year and what you like to do (lay around & do nuthin, explore & get to know the area, party & sightsee, etc), i can make good suggestions.
