NO VHS Movies in Stores

Best Buy no longer carries movies in VHS at their stores. This I learnt earlier today while shopping for copy of Finding Memo. When I asked the clerk where I could find a VHS copy, he just laughed and said they stopped carrying movies in VHS last summer. I’m sure this is becoming the policy at more and more stores. It just sucks I tell you. Maybe this is yet another sign that I need to buy a DVD. Sure you get better picture quality, extra scenes and even interviews with the actors/directors, but I still think the whole thing […]

Mona Lisa Smile/The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King

Feeling worse today. All I want to do is stay in bed but I have plans. I probably should have done that yesterday but went to movies and saw both Mona Lisa Smile and The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King. Then came home and stayed up wicked late doing laundry. I won’t share any spoilers on either movie, but I really liked both of them. However, the Lord of the Rings movie was about a half hour too long. Wondering, who told Hollywood that it was now acceptable to make movies over 3 hours long? There use […]

Pirates of the Caribbean

I’m on vacation all this week. Yippee me! Earlier today I finished my Christmas shopping and tonight I saw Pirates of the Caribbean at the Brew & View theatre. Cool flick! Now I finally get why everyone is making a fuss about Johnny Depp’s performance. Now currently wasting time talking to boys on AOL. Not really sure why I’m doing so because all of them just really want to get their freak on, and I’m more interested in talking to someone who might show promise towards becoming a boyfriend. Sometimes I really wish I wasn’t such a prude. It would […]

Something’s Gotta Give

Left work a bit early yesterday and after purchasing two serving bowls at my new favorite Kitchenware store Sur La Table, I headed to the movies to see Somethings Gotta Give. What a great movie. Ok, some of the jokes kind of fall flat, but it was good to see Hollywood embrace a more realistic version of romance. Granted there are quite a few older men out there like Jack Nicholason’s character Harry Sanborn who only date younger women, most people date others who are close to their own age. However, you wouldn’t know it from watching most romantic movies. […]

Master and Commander

The masses were out in full force yesterday. This made it difficult to get a reservation at a decent restaurant downtown last night without waiting an hour plus. My friend and I ended up at Houston’s after trying two other places (Grand Cafe Lux & Bandera). Houston’s was great as they had a bar in the lobby and a jazz band to make the wait tolerable. Plus we ended up only having to wait about 20 minutes. I had the BBQ Ribs with squash and my friend had the Hawaiian Ribeye with spinach. All in all, not bad food for […]
