Pride and Prejudice

I spent much of yesterday afternoon watching the BBC’s adaptation of Jane Austen’s book: Pride and Prejudice. Now, I can’t get Colin Firth out of my head. Goodness, why must I fall in love with men who are beyond my sphere? Damn! Here’s hoping that when my Mr. Darcy appears, he is just as dreamy but not so disagreeable in the beginning.

I barely passed astronomy at University and I didn’t bother taking physics past high school, but I’d like to think that I know just enough not to fall for this hoax. Channel 4 is blasting a group of adventurers, ordinary members of the public, off into space to spend five days orbiting the earth. It’s thrilling, it’s exciting, and it’s totally bogus. In fact, the cadets will be on a disused military base in Suffolk. War of the Worlds

Seeing War of the Worlds so soon after the London bombings was not my best idea. Despite the fact that the reason given for the war itself was not really clear, the almost annihilation and destruction of the earth (really certain parts of America), made me scared beyond belief.
