Choo-Choo’s New Bed

Post placeholder image

When I adopted Choo-Choo a few years ago, along with an assortment of toys, I also purchased a really nice bed for him. Much to my dismay, he hasn’t really used it much. In fact, he usually sleeps anywhere else but in his own bed, or mine for that matter. Lately, he’s taken to sleeping in a shoe box. Yes, I kid you not! It’s just the funniest thing since his 12lb body is just bursting out of the darn thing. But he’s comfortable and happy and that’s all that matters in the end.

My late cat Sam, who at one time tipped the scales at a whopping 23 pounds, liked to stuff himself in this round cat bed that was made for a much smaller feline. Never mind that he could have slept in millions of other places that would have accomodated him nicely…it HAD to be that bed. He would stuff himself in, the poor bed bulging all the way around, then close his eyes and get a very smug look on his face.

Cats are the strangest people I’ve ever met.

There is a fairly well-documented theory that (appears to me) covers this:
The amount of money spent on an item for a cat is inversely proportionate to the amount of time said cat will spend with the item.
Which is why our cats’ favorite toys are paper wads, cardboard boxes, and those things you tie your hair into ponytails with, while the plush catbeds and fuzzy cattoys slowly biodegrade from neglect…
