Anne Harris/Rose Rage

Post placeholder image

It’s been a fun but exhausting weekend. I hosted a friend whose condo floors were being refinished so we hung out together for the last two days. Last night we had dinner at El Mariachi and then headed over to Schubas to see performance by Anne Harris. While we were not familiar with her work prior to last night, she gave such a great performance that we’re both hoping to see her again. Based on the people there, looks like she has quite a following. Interestingly enough, many of them are lesbians. I sort of assumed as much based on the numerous scenes of girl on girl action. Somewhat surprised as Anne indicated she was married. So I guess there is more history there than I know. Either way, it doesn’t really matter. She has a great voice and is an awesome fiddler. After Anne’s performance we had planned to stay at Schubas to see Stolie perform, but since we didn’t want to pay for another show, we just moved on. We headed over to Justin’s for a night cap. Then after brunch this morning at Ann Sathers, we spent five hours at Chicago Shakespeare Theatre. There we saw Rose Rage, a Henry VI adaptation. Performance got off to a slow start but it was well worth it in the end. Now I’m just trying to relax. The weekend went by way too quickly.
