Good-bye My Blogging Friend

Damn! Damn! Damn! If you wake up in the middle of the night and can’t get back to sleep, steer clear of your computer. You’re liable to find out things that are better processed in the daylight. For example, learning that someone you’ve grown to admire mostly from afar committed suicide is not easy. Reading about it over the Internet just downright sucks — especially when this leads to a lot of questions that you know will never get answered. Gosh, I can’t help but think back to when this person (Aaron) was in my home a few months ago for a black blogger dinner party. He was such a kind gentle person. Oh how I feel for his family and close personal friends. Damn! Damn! Damn! I just don’t understand why he would do it and I suppose I may never will. May his soul rest in peace.

  1. just saw the news posted on GB; couldn’t help but remember the night at uncle fun & saw that great pic on lauriean’s site.
i hope aaron has found a more peaceful place; my thoughts & prayers are with his family and friends — he touched many, although he possibly didn’t even know it.

  2. My sympathies, Ursula. Aaron seemed like an incredible person and I’ll miss reading his site and laughing at his smarter than smart and wittier than witty writings. While I wish he were still here, I’m glad you got to know him.

  3. Holy crap. I read his blog about once every two months…I just didn’t agree with a lot of what he said…doesn’t mean he wasn’t smart, witty or a good writer…and…I don’t even know the guy and it feels weird. It feels weird to have read material written by someone all this time and then I read your site and find out this…
I can’t imagine how it must feel having met him. Thank you for passing on the news Miss Ursula. I, too, hope that he has found some peace now and hope his family and friends will find closure eventually…and I hope they don’t blame themselves.
