Al Franken goes live on Air America

Finally, Al Franken has his own radio show. So I’ve switched over from NPR to Air America to check it out. So far so good. Not sure if I’ll permanently switch, but I really like what I hear. Unfortunately, the show is not on the radio in every market yet, but you can listen via the internet. So thinking folks should check it out at least once — yes, especially the folks on the right. Heck, I use to listen to Rush Limbaugh. I was frustrated by his position on almost every topic, but it was good research into the other side’s point of view.

  1. I listened to Air America yesterday… I’ve been looking forward to it for awhile. And while the humor level is pretty good, I think they are going to have major growing pains. Al Fraknen doesn’t seem to have a “host” persona, and his co-host seemed pretty frustrated with him. And I think that they will have to struggle a little to be attack-dog-like without getting into conspiracy theory. If they follow Jon Stewart’s lead, they should do well.
I also listened to Jeanine Garofolo, and she was also good, but also a bit dogmatic. At times, guest Bill Maher wanted to back off from the statements Jeanine was offering.
The other problem is that the station clearly doesn’t have much money. The afternoon newscaster was prett weak, and reminded me of a college station. There were many technical difficulties to deal with.
Finally, one reporter pointed out is that a problem with liberal talk radio, is that, unlike conservatives who tend to apply a single philosophy to their entire world view, liberals tend not to have the same dogmatic ideas, and it really depends on the issue. As a result, listeners feel less comfortable, since they don’t always know which way a liberal will react to an issue.

  2. I also noticed many of the same things. However, I’m willing to put those aside as this is a new venture. Thinking in the next few weeks/months, we should see a vast improvement and hopefully things will be running smoothly.
Btw, when are you going to return my calls? Failure to respond in 48 hours is putting you in jepoardy of loosing your best guy friend status.

  3. Do you think Air America will be on in Colorado? Fat fucking chance.

  4. Probably not anytime soon but you can listen to it on the Internet.

  5. Air america has already lost 2 stations….AHAHAHAHAHHAHHHAAHAHHA
