2004 Presidential Candidate Selector

Post placeholder image

Via Outside The Beltway, I uncovered a survey at selectsmart.com that supposedly would enable me to know which presidential candidates views are more closely related to my own. Overall, not really surprised by the results, but it looks like I need to do some research. I don’t know much about US Representative Dennis J. Kucinich who is top of the list.

1. Kucinich, Cong. Dennis, OH – Democrat (100%)
2. Kerry, Senator John, MA – Democrat (94%)
3. Lieberman Senator Joe CT – Democrat (83%)
4. Edwards, Senator John, NC – Democrat (80%)
5. Gephardt, Cong. Dick, MO – Democrat (79%)
6. Dean, Gov. Howard, VT – Democrat (73%)
7. Sharpton, Reverend Al – Democrat (72%)
8. Graham, Senator Bob, FL – Democrat (67%)
9. Moseley-Braun, Former Senator Carol IL – Democrat (63%)
10. Libertarian Candidate (45%)
11. Bush, George W. – US President (16%)
12. Phillips, Howard – Constitution (4%)
13. LaRouche, Lyndon H. Jr. – Democrat (-8%)

According to selectsmart.com: “the candidates’ positions have been determined first by the candidate’s actions, then their public votes, followed by their public statements, and whenever possible, special interest group rankings of the candidate have been factored in.”

I also took this quiz, and got Kucinich as the #1 spot. Though, it seems as if some of his ideas don’t quite mesh with mine. He is quite a radical.

I found your link from Venomous Kate’s site.
I like what I’ve read so far and will keep coming back.
Even if you are a Democrat. ; ) Just Kidding.

Interesting quiz. I was just thinking the other day that I had no idea who was out there in the presidential field and what the issues were. Thanks!

Sadly, most of what I know about Kusinich is from the Daily Show. They did a bit about how you could tell how viable a Democratic candidate was by how vehemently he criticized Bush’s invasion of Iraq. For example, Gephart was very statemanlike, saying it’s too early to judge, blah blah blah. Howard Dean, more of a fringe candidate, was shown questioning the fact that they still haven’t found weapons of mass destruction, but still calmly. Finally, they showed Kusinish slamming his fist and yelling into the podium “WHERE ARE THE WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION?” Shows you what his chances are 🙂

The survey also returned Kucinich as No. 1 for me. The surprise was seeing Lieberman as No. 5 on my list.
