My Political Compass

The People’s Republic of Seabrook blog had a link to a test which says it can help determine one’s political compass. Just took the test. The results came back as follows:
Economic Left/Right: -5.25
Authoritarian/Libertarian: -3.49
So do I agree with the results? Yeah, I already knew my political views were pretty far to the left. Of course, it would be interesting to see if the results change in 10-15 years. I sort of agree with the view that the more someone moves up the socio-economic ladder, the more conservative they get (particularly when it comes to money and taxes).

  1. If only the reverse were true; that the more conservative one was, the further up you moved on the socio-economic ladder. 😉

  2. Thanks for the test link, Ursula. Here are my results:
    Economic Left/Right: -1.25
    Authoritarian/Libertarian: -5.74

  3. My results…
    Economic Left/Right: -0.62
    Authoritarian/Libertarian: -4.72
Though I must admit the questions had a very strange (almost insulting) Left-wing Bias

  4. I’m not sure whether the questions were biased, but I did get the feeling many had been designed to circumferentially extract yes-no repsonses to hot-button issues while trying to avoid direct questions. The abortion, free trade, immigration and ERA type questions come to mind.
I’ve seen a similar test handed out by Libertarians. In one version, there are just a handful of questions.
