Selective Memory Loss

Last night, I made it to 2 of the 3 parties. Both events were quite festive with lots of fun people to talk to. But with 1am approaching, thought it best to call it a night.
In reflecting on the night, can’t help but think I suffer from selective (or not so selective) memory loss. I use to think it only applied to things in my past I didn’t want to remember, but I’m now having my doubts. In talking to one of the people at the party who was a huge hockey fan, I mentioned that I went to a Chicago Blackhawks game last Friday night. When she proceeded to grill me about what happened at the game, I couldn’t really provided her with details. I couldn’t even say with certainty who the Blackhawks played. I blamed it on watching the game from a skybox. Then when another gal complimented me on the barrette I was wearing in my hair, I mentioned that I had originally purchased it earlier in year to wear at the Green Tie Ball. But then I couldn’t even remember where the Ball was held or who the sponsor of the event was. What is up with that? Both of these are cheery memories. Its one thing to forget the awful stuff, but it’s completely different to not remember the happy memories. So maybe it’s a good thing I’m doing this blog. I want to be able to better recall my own personal history.

  2. I have always had this problem. Actually, my boyfriend and I just broke up because he couldn’t handle it anymore. It’s so incredibly frustrating. I would have conversations with him and tell him things, then later I wouldn’t remember ever having the conversation. I too would love some info on the subject.

  3. i think that sandra white was not being wise and posted her address…
anyway, i am 17 and i have had this problem for several years now. its very difficult to live with since sharing memories with friends is near impossible. its usually caused by trauma, probably emotional.you just naturally repress certain things in the past and then it triggers your memory to delete other things you just stored. or at least, thats what some people tell me.
problem is, i can’t remember what caused the trauma!! i guess the method of remembering what caused it in order to fix it is out of the question.
all i know is that, SOMEONE NEEDS TO FIND A CURE before we all go crazy. =(

The incident was happend on this firday. I and she have had an argument that morning for some stupid things. She picked up a swiss knife and threathened to stab me, and then that I grabbed her knife immediately in an attempt to pervent her to cause any dangers. Afterwards, I cut my arm with her knife, and made it 11 wounds scars in my arm. I did this unplanned , it was like a sunny sky, suddenly full of cloud. CAn you please answer me question whether she can recover. I am willing to pay any cost for her treatment. please help her.

  5. I have been having difficulty with my wife not remembering things. Not like the car keys but specific types of things. Some are handling money, conversations and promises that deal with money. This is not occasional. I see this thread is not new, but if anyone has info, please contact me.
