Madonna & child

By now I'm sure that most know that Madonna has adopted or at least tried to adopt an infant boy from Malawi. What I can't understand is why she had to pick a boy who still had at least one parent (a father) alive. Now granted said father put him in the orphanage, but he apparently only did so because he couldn't afford to feed the child. Thus, I surprised that the orphanage would have added little David into the mix for possible adoption. Personally, I think they should have only allowed her to consider children who were truly orphans. Perhaps then, there wouldn't be all this controversy surrounding her efforts.
