How To Annoy Me

To my immediate family members: My moving to London was not to become hotelier for people I don't know. Sure its ok to give out my contact details to distant relatives so that we can connect. But if I've never even met them, I'm not going to agree to put them up for days on end. So do not suggest to them that I might do that. Heck, I'm not even going to return their calls in whatever distant lands they may be coming from. I'll wait for them to call me from their London hotel. Call me selfish, but I’m just not comfortable with overnight guests I don't know. Not when I don't have a second bedroom and not if its going to mean a disruption in my daily routine and not if they expect me to play host/tour guide. More importantly, this is my new life. I want and need to be void of drama. So if they want to meet up for lunch or dinner to made an introduction, I'd welcome that. But please don't tell them that I'd be open to them staying overnight.

i'm with you on this one. if i don't know you, i don't care if you came to me with a baby, halo, two zebras, and a monkey. (don't ask where the zebras and monkey came from..just go with me) you're not staying in my house uninvited. i really dislike how some family members are good for throwing the family bonds in your face when they need/want something from you. it's one thing if you made the offer, quite another if someone is doing it without your blessing. damn. thousands of miles away, and your family still causes drama. sigh. :) you'll be alright. you know they deal. im sure they know the deal by now too.

My immediate relatives of my generation or younger would never think about doing such a thing. But it’s the old folks, from the old country who think this sort of behavior is appropriate. It just grates on my last nerves.
