London 2012 Olympics: Opening Ceremony

As one of 300 Mechanicals during the London 2012 Opening Ceremony, I had one of the most amazing experiences of my life last Friday night. So what did it mean to be a Mechanical? Well, my job was to get the audience involved in the show. And dressed like a Super Mario Brother, I had a bag full of props and an earpiece to help prompt me at various points throughout the 3 1/2 hour show. The Olympic Torch passed through Bromley today. All of this added to the excitment for the upcoming London 2012 Games and so can’t wait for things to kick off on 27th July. Olympic Rings on Tower Bridge

It’s now exactly 14 days to go before the Olympics begins and so there is a definite buzz in the air. Also, more london landmarks are getting into the spirit of things. Below is a picture of Tower Bridge displaying the Olympic rings. According to news reports, the rings which weigh three tonnes were put there 30 days before the start of the games “cost £259,817 to produce and installing them is estimated to have cost £53,000.” They do look good but that’s an aweful lot of money for a temporary installation. Exactly one week from today, I’ll have my second rehearsal for London 2012 Olympics Opening and Closing ceremonies. We were sworn to secrecy so can’t give ANY details on what I’ll be doing.
