Yuck, was that a Cockroach?

I don’t think I can go to my favorite lunch place anymore. Today, just as the waitress was putting food down at another table closeby, a bug (really cockroach) crawled across the plate. I didn’t see the bug but it was supposedly HUGE. All four people who were at the table were so traumatized that they bolted out of restaurant. I can’t say I really blame them. In that we had already eaten our lunch and were just sitting around shooting the breeze, we sat there in shock. And now I don’t want to go back there. But bummed, as […]

Gym Membership

I’m thinking of canceling my gym membership at the Chicago Sweat Shop and signing up at Pulse Fitness Center. As much as I try (and want to), I haven’t gone to the Chicago Sweat Shop with any regularity for the past two years –yet I pay them about $60 a month in membership dues. So thinking about switching as Pulse Fitness offers a pay-as-you-go model. But I’m a little hesitant about making the switch because I’d be giving up access to all the classes offered at the Chicago Sweat Shop. Shoe Shopping

Shopping for shoes at DSW for 2+ hours is quite maddening. How else to explain getting Chinese takeout on the way home after buying approx $100 worth of groceries last night. They include: Bamee Noodle Shop, Mars Restaurant, New Peking Mandarin and Szechwan, New Toyko, and Nohana Japanese Restaurant. And to think I don’t even live in Chinatown. Oh, and we won’t even talk about all the other restaurants […]

Lean Cuisine Salisbury Steak

Public Note to Self: Do not buy anymore Lean Cuisine Salisbury Steak with Macaroni & Cheese. That “stuff” is just horrible. Yuck!! I want to wash my mouth out with soap. For the record, I do like some of the Lean Cuisine Cafe Classics Chicken lunches. But the Salisbury Steak was just awful. This is what I get for going grocery shopping at midnight. Or worse yet, buying stuff on sale.

Family-Style

I went to dinner tonight at Magianno’s to celebrate another friend’s birthday. We ate family-style which was not really a good idea with only 5 people. The food was delicious but there was enough to feed at least 10 people. I tried to keep myself in check but it’s time like these that make it really difficult to loose weight. I know, just another excuse right? But you have to admit that restaurant portions are really out of whack.
