Yeah, I just don't understand why so many women are falling all over themselves for these books. The relationship is not aspirational and is downright abusive. It's not a partnership of equals.

Thank you, Ursula! Almost every woman I know has bought into this series and can't understand why I think it is poorly written and why I have issue with the content. I understand real dom/sub relationships, etc., but in my opinion that's not what this book is about. It's an abusive relationship.

Haha, like your first Halloween in UK story Ursula! I don't think I've ever been to a proper Halloween party, but went to a 'Haunted Zumba' class last year, does that count?! A bit of Michael Jackson's Thriller routine thrown in and I did wear tights covered in cobwebs ( design, not cos they were so old!!) It's never really been that big a deal over here, though I have noticed the M&S Halloween section growing in size over recent years. Pam, lady I work with who is almost 60 but one Big kid is off to New York Monday with her family, and is already kitted out for the massive Halloween parties over there - including light up/ flashing creepy spiders attached to headband. She's beside herself with excitement and we've given her pumpkin garlands and ghoulish jellies to take over too, though I'm sure she'll discover a whole new world of Halloween accessories in NY! Anyway this is my first time Ever that I've 'blogged' Wishing you all a Super Spooky Halloween this year :-o :-o :-o Close your eyes and listen to this, be afraid, be VERY afraid!! http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=copkFj7rIXc (hope link works!)

From ghoolies and ghosties and Long-leggedy beasties
and things that go bump in the night
may the good Lord give us respite!

Witches & wizards and vampires galore
Some fly on a Hoover,
(Broomsticks are things of yore)
Shrieking and crying - there's music required
Then home before midnight
These ghouls are retired!

House currently dressed for Halloween courtesy of Poundland Ealing! Originally got in the habit when I went to an Apple sales conference in San Diego in 1985 - came home with suitcase full of Halloween goodies never seen before in the UK. Been a fan since....
Had an early run at spooky goings on with a street safari party last week, about six households had a safari party which involved a different dish in each house - and accompanying alcohol! So if anybody was wandering near Walpole Park and saw a motley crew of witches, vampires etc wandering from house to house, not oversized trick or treaters or figments of imagination, but rather neighbours of a certain age who probably should have known better - but didn't give a damn!!
