Forty Two

Today I celebrate my forty-second birthday. This is significant as my mother died at this age. And so this age has been ingrained in my brain. I dreaded its arrival while at the same time I couldn’t wait to move beyond this number as in a weird way, I felt like I needed to reach this age before life could really begin. Gabby Douglas: The Flying Squirrel

The London 2012 Olympics are in full swing and I’ve tried to watch as much of the events as possible. Particularly as BBC has 20+ channels so you don’t have to stay committed to what’s being broadcast on the main channel. So this afternoon decided to watch gymnasts. Really, I wanted to see Gabby Douglas known as “The Flying Squirrel” compete during the Artistic Gymnastics women’s Individual All-Around final. Prime Minister In Waiting

Boris Johnson the current Mayor of London is tipped to be the future leader of the British Conservative Party and eventual Prime Minister. So let’s hope that when he does get back into Parliament, he will start acting less like a buffoon and more like a serious politician. Don’t get me wrong, I do like a politician who is of the people and is quite personable, but Boris takes it all a bit too far and often makes a fool of himself. London 2012 Olympics: Opening Ceremony

As one of 300 Mechanicals during the London 2012 Opening Ceremony, I had one of the most amazing experiences of my life last Friday night. So what did it mean to be a Mechanical? Well, my job was to get the audience involved in the show. And dressed like a Super Mario Brother, I had a bag full of props and an earpiece to help prompt me at various points throughout the 3 1/2 hour show.
