Holiday Stress

I did the first wave of Christmas shopping today. I only purchased items for myself, so I suppose you can’t really call it Christmas shopping. The problem is that I don’t really know what to get the people on my list. I’m not around them much doing the year as we live in different states. So without asking for a wishlist, I’m clueless. I suppose I could just send gift certificates, but that seems so impersonal. It totally lacks original thought. Then again, maybe it would be for the best. At least people would get what they want. There is nothing worse than getting a gift you don’t really like and keeping it because you don’t want to offend the other person. Goodness! No wonder people procrastinate. The search for the perfect Christmas gift is just way too stressful.

  1. well an amex gift cert might be what the dr ordered esp now. it can be used toward anything including groceries if necessary.
have you talked them recently to get some hints?

  2. From my observations, it seems that everyone wants a pair of Burberry plaid pants. Now the problem comes in sizings, so maybe you should get everyone a bolt of burberry plaid fabric and they can make whatever they want out of it. Of course, you run the risk of folks making bad decisions like Burberry jumpsuits, Burberry socks, Burberry overalls….oh…the humanity!

  3. TREND ALERT:
Due to the lack of any one “hot gift” for both kids or adults this season, the “Big” gift this year is, in fact, GIFT CARDS! It’s been all over the news. Think about it this way: People get just what they want, and they get sometimes twice as much as the face value of the Gift Card because of all the deep discounting done during the after-holiday sales. Both the giver and the receiver come out winners! I went Bloomie’s gift card crazy for my family, as they are all power shoppers, so they will TRULY get the money’s worth!
