This Too Shall Pass

I’ve been thinking about taking a break from blogging. Lately, I’ve have so many thoughts (mostly negative) running through my head, that I feel overwhelmed at times. So I was thinking that it might be good to walk away and regroup instead of saying more things I might later regret. Maybe read a few of the novels on my nightstand. Maybe see a few more movies. I hate to say it, but I need to escape my own reality and writing about things on this blog, as well as talking to family, friends, and coworkers about my latest trials and tribulations over and over again is just too emotionally exhausting. Funny I should be thinking about taking a break when the Chicago Tribune article on women bloggers is set to come out any day now. Maybe I’ll wait a week and see how I feel.

  1. When I tend to get overwhelmed I remember three words: focus, focus, focus. Pick one thing and focus on it. Get it done then go on to the next. Your absence would be noticed, but accepted.

  2. I dunno…if you’re going to take such a major break from blogging, I may have to take you off of my Blogroll 🙂

  3. Jr,
Great advice. I’ve been focusing on 2-3 of the larger challenges, but I’m all over the place that I haven’t given each the attention they deserve. So you’re right, maybe I just need to pick one and focus, focus, focus!!
    Toonces,
Ha Ha! At least I gave you notice. I know I was upset last week about a certain person who removed me from their blogroll, but there were special circumstances. We had developed a close person friendship….thus removal warranted at least an email or phone call. Or at least a response to my email. Either way, I’m over it now. NEXT!!!

  4. Perhaps instead of leaving altogether you could change your personal usage of your blog and make it something fun and a distraction from the rest of your life. Play silly games, take quizzes and surveys, post really bad jokes… you get the idea. Maybe the blog could become an escape for you instead of a place where you feel _obligated_ to be %100 honest all the time.
I’d really miss you if you left!

  5. Learned about you in the Tribune this morning. I’ve never heard of a blogger, so out of curiousity, I checked out your site.
I think you should just follow your heart and do what makes you happy! Good luck!
